| | President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has affirmed that Nigeria will continue to work harmoniously with other African nations to entrench peace, political stability and good governance in all parts of the continent.
Speaking at an audience with the Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Madicke Niang, who delivered a special message from President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday, August 9, President Jonathan affirmed his belief in African Unity and the ability of African leaders to work together to evolve effective and enduring solutions to crises on the continent.
The President extolled President Wade’s “wealth of experience and commitment to Africa’s progress” and said that he looked forward to receiving the Senegalese leader in Abuja soon on an official visit to Nigeria.
He noted that the planned visit will provide both leaders with an excellent opportunity to confer further on the strengthening of bilateral relations and current challenges facing the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
President Wade had said in his message to President Jonathan that he was happy that under the Jonathan Administration, Nigeria was reassuming its leadership role in African affairs.
