Three new ministers assigned portfolios, as President Jonathan reshuffles cabinet Aug 11, 2010, 19:59
| | President Goodluck Jonathan has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle.
At the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday August 11, Mr Remi Babalola was moved from his position as Minister of State, Finance, to the ministry of Special Duties, while the Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (rtd) moves from Special Duties to become Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory.
President Jonathan also swore in three new ministers and assigned portfolios to them.
They are:
Mrs Salamatu Suleiman (Kebbi State) – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
Mrs Yabawa Wabi (Borno State) – Minister of State, Finance, and
Mr Kenneth Gbagi (Delta State) – Minister of State, Education
Mrs Suleiman and Mrs Wabi are both from the opposition All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP).
Meanwhile, FEC has approved the purchase of three new presidential jets.
The approval to purchase two Falcon 7X aircraft from France’s Dassault Aviation and one Gulfstream G550 from for the presidential fleet at a cost of 150 million dollars, was announced by Information and Communications Minister, Professor Dora Akunyili, after the meeting.
The minister said the amount was provided for in the 2010 budget.
