FG declares Thursday and Friday public holidays to mark Eid el Fitr Sep 2, 2010, 13:04
| | The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 9th and Friday, 10th September, 2010 as public holidays for the observance of the ‘Eid el Fitr’, the Muslim festival marking the end of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan.
This is contained in a statement by the Minister of Interior, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho signed by the Assistant Director, Press, Mr Timothy Oyedeji in Abuja on Thursday, September 2.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray fervently for the progress and peaceful co-existence of the country, especially as the nation approaches the 2011 general election.
The minister wished all Nigerians both at home and abroad, a blissful and joyous celebration during the period.
