NLNG, British Gas sign trade pact Oct 15, 2003, 17:09
| | Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited has signed a long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with BG LNG Services (BGLS), an American subsidiary of British Gas (BG), for the sale of liquefied natural gas volumes from its fourth and fifth trains.
With headquarters in the United Kingdom (UK) and operations in 20 countries over five continents, the BG Group is a leading player in the global energy market.
Under the terms of the Sales and Purchase Agreement, NLNG will deliver three billion cubic metres per year to BGLS in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) when the new trains commence production in 2005.
The agreement, according to Sienne Allwell Brown, NLNG General Manager (External Relations), has been finalised, based on the memorandum of understanding between the parties signed in May.
NLNG cargoes will be among the first callers at the expanded Lake Charles LNG receiving terminal.
Lake Charles terminal provides access to 15 major intrastate and interstate natural gas pipelines. Southern Union, owners of the terminal, has announced an expansion programme scheduled to be completed by the start of 2006.
