MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA TO NIGERIANS
Jun 15, 2007, 08:58

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA TO NIGERIANS “There’s Work to Be Done”

I have in the last two weeks been receiving various delegations from across the country; all coming to congratulate and felicitate with me on my recent inauguration and assumption of office.

While I appreciate this great outpouring of affection and the pledges of support for which I feel humbled, I must say that there is so much work to do in our country today and I will like to concentrate on the crucial task of repositioning our country for peace, sustainable development and prosperity.

I therefore plead with other delegations who intend to call on me to express their best wishes and support to reschedule their plans for a more auspicious time so that we can redirect our focus to taking urgent action to address the socio-economic problems facing our people and repositioning our dear country for the challenges of the 21st century.

I also enjoin all stakeholders in Project Nigeria, whether in the public or private sector, to roll up their sleeves and begin to make meaningful contributions as we seek to harness our potentials for the greater good of our people.

I consider it my duty and obligation to visit all the people of Nigeria where they live to thank them for electing me their President and I hope to do so at the appropriate time.

May God continue to bless all of us and our country, Nigeria.

Umaru Musa Yar’Adua
President, Commander-in-Chief
of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
