c/o Nigerian Embassy
Algiers
Algeria

CONGRATULATIONS

I write to congratulate you and the Nigerian athletes at the on-going 9th All-African Games, Algiers 2007, for the efforts that have resulted in your qualification for the semi-finals of the female football event, the winning of two silver medals in judo, and the victory in the table tennis event.

All Nigerians can learn from the determination and commitment you have brought to bear in your participation in the Games, especially the determination to win laurels for our dear country. It is this type of determination my administration is trying to nurture in our collective aspiration to build a new Nigeria.

As defending champions, you must compete with zeal, strength, fairness, and sportsmanship, while striving to return home as champions. I urge you to be good ambassadors of our country to your hosts and co-contestants.

I look forward to receiving the medals and trophies from you here in Abuja.

Umaru Musa Yar’Adua
