President Yar’Adua receives Sudanese Special Envoy
Jul 27, 2007, 13:47

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has assured the government and people of Sudan of Nigeria’s commitment to the attainment of peace and stability in that country.

The President made the commitment when he granted audience to President Omar El-Bashir’s Special Envoy, Dr. Etijani Salih Fidhail, on July 27 at State House, Abuja.

“We will do everything possible to ensure peace, stability and a return to normalcy in Darfur and Sudan”, he said.

Earlier, the Special Envoy had told President Yar’Adua that Sudan was committed to finding a lasting solution to the crisis and looked up to Nigeria for support and assistance. “As soon as the UN Security Council adopts the resolution regarding funding of the peacekeeping force, we shall need Nigeria’s additional help”, said Dr. Fidhail.
