Presidency sends Ministerial and Ambassadorial list to Senate

President Umaru Musa Yar’adua has submitted a list of Ministerial and Ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

The President in the covering letter to the Senate on September 25 said the appointment of the nominees was in accordance with section 171(c) sub-section 4 of the 1999 constitution and expressed the hope that the Senate would approve their appointment expeditiously.

The three candidates nominated for confirmation as ministers are,

1. Mr. Orubebe Peter Godsday (South-South geo-political zone)
2. Seriki Ademola Razak (Lagos State)
3. Odom Chuka Julius, (representing the Progressive Peoples Alliance)

The ambassadorial nominees consisting of political nominees and career officers are,

In his response, the Senate President Senator David Mark said that the upper chamber would be fair to all nominees just like it did with the first set of ministerial nominees it screened recently and warned against acts of favoritism and corruption.
