President Yar’Adua urges equitable global economic system
Nov 12, 2007, 16:50

President Umaru Muse Yar’Adua has called for the emergence of a global economic system predicated on fairness, justice and equity as the panacea to build a world of shared prosperity, peace and security.

The President who made this call on November 12, while declaring open the 29th
Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action in Abuja, noted “Considering that the issues of poverty, unemployment and migration have recently engaged the serious attention of the international community, the theme of your Forum, Poverty and Unemployment: Eradicating the Root Causes of Migration, could not have been more timely and appropriate.”

According to him, It is gratifying to see the world’s parliamentarians pro-actively deploying their legislative influence in engaging global socio-economic, development and political challenges, and driving the entrenchment of democratic good governance, justice, equity, and development across the world.

While wishing them a very fruitful and fulfilling deliberations, the President expressed delight at the choice of Abuja, as host of the 29th Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action. And enjoin them to make out time to enjoy the beauty and unique ambience of Abuja.
