Two new ambassadors present credentials

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has expressed satisfaction with the existing warm relations between Nigeria, Thai and Cote d’Ivoire, which he noted, were getting stronger.

The President stated this at separate audiences he granted the new Thai and Cote d’Ivoire ambassadors to Nigeria after he received their letters of credence on Friday May 9 at the State House, Abuja.

He directed that action be taken on the pending investment protection agreement between Nigeria and Thailand, as part of his administration’s continuing efforts to encourage and attract investors into the country.

He also expressed appreciation at the restoration of peace and stability to Cote d’Ivoire, adding that “we now have universal peace in the West African region, and we should do more to extend this to the whole continent”.

President Yar’Adua assured them of Government’s cooperation in the discharge of their duties and wished them happy and successful tenures in Nigeria.

The new Thai ambassador, Mr. Widhaya Bhoolsuwan, had expressed appreciation at Nigeria’s friendship and cooperation, while Mr. Diarra Amidou of Cote d’Ivoire thanked Nigeria for helping restore peace to his country.
