FG pledges new approach to resolving Niger Delta crisis

Citing the absence of political will and institutional capacity in past attempts to address the lingering Niger Delta crisis, the Federal Government on Monday May 12 promised a new approach towards peace and development.

Vice President Dr Goodluck Jonathan who gave the assurance at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Port Harcourt said that the Federal Government has shown direction in its will to tackle the issues and assured the summit of the determination of the Federal Government to address the peculiar problems of region.

The Vice President assured that the modalities for the attainment of peace and prosperity of the people which will in turn usher in peace without which development would not be possible is on.

President Umar Musa Yar’Adua had a few days earlier called on the youths of Niger Delta to give peace a chance in order to facilitate development.
