Democracy has brought stability to Nigeria - President Yar’Adua

Reflecting on the apprehension expressed by some Nigerians nine years ago, of what their country would become, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has asserted that democracy had brought stability to Nigeria.

Represented by the Minister of Interior, Maj.-Gen. Godwin Abbe at an interdenominational church service,on Sunday May 25 at the National Christian Centre, Abuja to mark the first anniversary of his government,President Yar’Adua charged Nigerians to remain steadfast and move forward with courage, as there are so many reasons to celebrate.

The President who declared that his administration has kept faith with the Nigerian project,expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome challenges she faces as a nation and urged Nigerians to remain united and pray fervently for God to lead the nation through the path of progress.
He restated his commitment to the rule of law and the protection of the rights of the citizens adding that he would only feel great when the living conditions of Nigerians get better.

In attendance at the interdenominational services were the Deputy Senate President,Ike Ekweremadu,Ministers of Information and Communication, Mr. John Odey, Aja Nwachukwu (Education),Foreign Affairs' Ojo Maduekwe and other senior government officials.
