Sep 24, 2008, 15:47

The Federal Government has declared Monday September 29th and Tuesday September 30th 2008 as public holiday to mark the end of Ramadan festival, Id-el-Fitri.

Similarly, Wednesday October 1 2008 has been declared a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 48th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement, the Minister of Interior, Major General Godwin Abbe (rtd) on behalf of the Federal Government congratulated all Nigerians at home and abroad for the successful completion of the Muslim fasting period which also coincides with the celebration of the nation’s 48th Independence anniversary.

The Minister enjoined Nigerians to celebrate joyfully but with a sober reflection on the mercies and goodness of God for the nation.

He also called for continuous prayers for the well being, peace and progress of Nigeria and the successful implementation of the present administration’s Seven-Point Agenda.
