Independence Day: First Lady Turai fetes children
Oct 1, 2008, 13:40

Among events marking Nigeria’s 48th Independence Day anniversary, the First Lady Mrs Turai Umaru Yar’adua organized a Children’s Party at the State House Abuja on Saturday September 27 at which she admonished children to build on the good examples our leaders have laid as the Nation looks unto them with great expectations.

The First Lady explained that the Government has embarked upon series of sector-wide reforms that are geared towards achieving national objectives.

Hajia Turai was full of praises for parents and teachers for committing their energies and resources in giving their children sound, quality education.

She urged children to avoid bad habits and bad company and to be responsible and disciplined children at all times.

The party was organized for children from schools within Abuja.

Earlier in the day, Hajia Turai had visited some orphanages and hospitals in Abuja where she distributed food stuffs.
