Turai Yar’Adua postpones NGO launch
Oct 6, 2008, 13:31

First Lady, Mrs Turai Umar Yar’adua, has directed the postponement of inauguration of her pet project, Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF.

It was billed for inauguration on October 11.

The National Coordinator of the project Engineer Muttaka Rabe said that a new date for the launch would be announced later.

He said that though the project had done a lot since its inception about two years ago; there was a need to formally present it to the public.

‘WAYEF has achieved a lot in providing assistance in various ways especially to women and youths since its inception’ said.

He said that WAYEF had identified five main areas of intervention for the less privileged women and the youth in the country.

These he said, were health interventions, educational and social services, hope for the less privileged, agriculture and environmental control.

Rabe said thousands of Nigerians have so far benefited from the Health intervention programme, especially in cataract removal, maternal and child health care services.
