Six universities enjoy special FG funding

The Federal Government has approved over N3billion as special intervention fund for the provision and upgrading of facilities in six selected universities in the country.

Education minister, Dr Sam Egwu said at a meeting with heads of the selected institutions in Abuja on Tuesday April 21 that in selecting the beneficiaries, considerations were given to the type and variety of academic programmes, student enrolment, number and seniority of academic staff and post graduate programmes.

The benefiting universities are:

• University of Ilorin
• University of Maiduguri
• Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
• University of Nigeria Nsukka
• University of Benin, and
• University of Ibadan
