Evolve innovative fund raising strategies, President charges universities
May 6, 2009, 17:07

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has challenged Nigerian universities to evolve new strategies in fund-raising as part of their contribution to national development.

He also charged them to place their services in the forefront of the country’s development efforts.

President Yar’Adua gave the advice on the official commissioning of the permanent site of the University of Abuja.

Represented by the Education minister, Dr Sam Egwu, President Yar’Adua expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to give education the requisite budgetary priority.

“We know that Government alone cannot meet the funding challenge of the education sector. In the respect I challenge university management across the country to recommit to evolving innovative fund raising activities and productive partnerships with the private sector and our development partners”, he said.
