FG declares public holiday on May 29 to mark Democracy Day

The Federal Government has declared Friday May 29 as public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day.

A statement by the Interior minister, Major General Godwin Abbe said government decided on a low-key celebration which will feature special Jumat prayers on Friday May 29 at the National Mosque Abuja and an Interdenominational service to be held at the National Christian Centre Abuja on Sunday May 31.

According to the programme, a foot exhibition with the theme “Moments and Icons of our Democratic Development” will take place on Wednesday May 27 to Friday May 29
The minister urged all Nigerians to remain steadfast in praying for peace, progress and sustenance of democratic governance in the country.
