New Head of Service, Mr Oronsaye, assumes office
Jun 16, 2009, 16:18

The new Head of Service of the Federation, Mr Steve Oronsaye, on Tuesday June 16, took over from his predecessor, Mrs Ama Pepple.

Mrs Pepple retired from the service effective June 15 2009.

In his remarks before assuming office, Mr Oronsaye observed that civil servants deserve better working environment to stimulate their potentials.

He said the Federal Government is committed to creating such environment and called on civil servants to work in consonance with the reform agenda of the Federal Government.

“There is need to double our effort and make sacrifices not for our today but for our children tomorrow.

“Indeed there are countless opportunities in the civil service that each of us beginning with the Head of Service to the messenger in the ministry must take more responsibility by doing our task as if the entire service depends on it”, the new Head of Service said.

Mr Oronsanya thanked President Yar’Adua for his appointment and promised to improve the lot of civil servants.

At the handing over ceremony, Mrs Ama Pepple said she had no doubt that her successor would continue from where she stopped.

She thanked civil servants for the support she received during her tenure and asked them to extend same to her successor.

She also asked them to accept postings to new ministry as a way of gaining more experience.
