Russian President Medvedev arrives Nigeria

The President of the Russian Federation, Mr Dmitry Medvedev has arrived Nigeria on a state visit.

The Russian leader was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Wednesday June 24 by Foreign Minister Chief Ojo Maduekwe.

It is the first visit to Nigeria by a Russian President.

During the visit, the President of Russia will hold talks with President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and both leaders are expected to sign agreements to boost trade and economic relations especially in the areas of oil and gas and peaceful use of nuclear energy.
