FEC constitutes six-member team to visit President Yar’Adua Feb 18, 2010, 16:53
| | The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday raised a six-member team to visit President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and his family in Saudi Arabia.
The FEC meeting was presided over by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.
Information and Communications minister, Professor Dora Akunyili, who briefed newsmen after the meeting, said “Council constituted a six-man team to go to Saudi Arabia to visit Mr. President and his family. The team will also convey a formal appreciation of the country to the King of Saudi Arabia.”
The team comprises Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, Health Minister Professor Babatunde Oshotimehin, Foreign Affairs Minister Chief Ojo Maduekwe, Petroleum Resources Minister Dr Rilwanu Lukman, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN) and Agriculture Minister Dr Sayyadi Abba Ruma.
Council also approved the sum of N20.2 billion for the standardization of rates applied in the procurement of group life assurance for employees of the Federal Government for 2010.
According to the Information minister, Acting President Jonathan said he would within the week meet with ministers of Mines and Steel, Power, and Petroleum with a view to fashioning out ways of generating power from coal in the next 18-24 months in the country.
