The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has officially hailed the Golden Eaglets for winning the 2007 edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea.

In the course of the Council deliberations, President Umaru Musa Yar’adua informed the Council of his "joy at the victory of the team" and expressed the hope that the victory would inspire Nigerian youths to excel in all their endeavours.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Aliyu Modibo, was directed to receive the players on their arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and co-ordinate arrangements for the reception billed for September 15.
The FEC meet also approved a contract for the rehabilitation of sewage treatment plants at the Mogadishu, Niger and Lungi military barracks in the FCT valued at N174.5 million and another for the construction of a car park at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja at the cost of N280.1 million.
Commenting on the recent terror alert on Nigeria by the United States in the wake of the memorial of the September 11 bombings in New York in 2001, the FEC said it considered the alert to be a caution not a threat.
Information and Communications Minister, Mr. John Odey, briefed the press after the meeting.
