In line with his administration’s resolve to grow the national economy through diversification President Umar Musa Yar’Adua hosted the elite of the nation’s business community to a breakfast meeting at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday October 23.

The maiden meeting was attended by captains of industry, chief executives of some key government parastatals and some ministers.
President Yar’Adua said at the meeting that Government was strengthening the critical infrastructures to create a healthy environment for investment.
The President said that necessary steps would be taken to further reduce the bottlenecks on investment approvals in the country to attract businesses.
“Multi-national companies operating in Nigeria are assured of our administration’s support particularly as it has to do with strengthening domestic linkages. Opportunities abound here in Nigeria and return on investment in the country ranks among the highest globally”.
President Yar’Adua therefore called on small and medium scale enterprises to take advantage of the huge opportunities of out-sourcing both within and outside the continent.
The meeting aimed at galvanizing the support of Nigerian investors on current efforts by government toward achieving rapid economic transformation in line with its focus on streamlining domestic investment and growth of small and medium scale enterprises as key drivers of the economy.
At the event, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission showcased its one-stop investment centre, which aims at reducing the cost and time of doing business in the country.
The one-stop centre can register companies within 24-hours and facilitate linkages for investors.
