From nigeriafirst.org FEC approves infrastructures for Abuja, power and education sectors By Sep 3, 2008, 16:31
The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday September 3 took a number of decisions including the approval of a contract for the construction of a flyover at the AYA Junction and the expansion of the Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory.
FCT minister, Dr Aliyu Modibo said after the meeting “Abuja is supposed to have 60 districts but today only six districts have been developed. Asokoro is one of the six but not all of it has been developed. This why Government decided to provide the infrastructure there.
“On the flyover, when the contract was given by the previous administration for the roundabout, it was realised at that time it was not going to solve the problem of congestion on the road. The quick intervention, we realised, was to continue with what was proposed because the Abuja master plan proposed the construction of roads separation at every major intersection”, the minister said.
