President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has commended the out-going Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Oleg Skoropad, for laying a solid foundation for excellent trade and bilateral relations with Nigeria during his over four years tenure in Nigeria.
President Yar’Adua gave the commendation at a farewell audience he granted to Mr. Skoropad at State House, Tuesday May 19.
“I want to thank you for all the good work you have done to improve our relations, and look forward to your return to Nigeria, albeit in a different capacity”, he added.
Earlier, Mr. Skoropad had said the volume of trade between the two countries had doubled in the past four years, while many Ukrainian investors had come to Nigeria. He said 800 Nigerian students were admitted into Ukrainian universities last year, while his government were awaiting approval to establish a Ukrainian Technology Village in Abuja.
The out-going Ambassador thanked President Yar’Adua for providing the atmosphere that made these achievements possible, adding that he hoped to return to Nigeria in a different capacity in the near future.
